New Jewellery Artist in the Making!

Fingers at the ready everyone – get clicking on to the new kitsch jewellery website BuTTerfLy Pie created by english Fine Art graduate Clare. This site is in the early stages when describing its production, design and quantity but the merchandise available is very quirky and strange. The talent of Clare is made clear by her cheeky aesthetic and her use of colour. Most of her jewellery pieces are everday objects that anyone can relate to – like food products, shoes and cassettes. She even has traffic light earrings! Most of her items are not suitable for you shy-types but she certainly has imagination.

There are a few faults in the site which make it appear more amateur. For example the layout is very basic and there is not very much information on the site – each item does get a brief description but it lacks depth in the overall site. It very much looks like a budding artist’s site – who is trying to make a bit of extra money.  There has not been very much effort put into the site, but the same cannot be said for the products. They are very detailed and unusual. Plastic is used in excess I would comment, and she could venture out to use other material but if the jewellery reflects the creator’s personality, I suspect she is very fun and loud! The most disappointing thing about Clare’s little business is that she seems to have just stuck things on a chain, and nothing has been “hand made” more like “hand stuck”. She is very honest about this fact, but it is still a bit of a let down – frankly it could be MUCH better.

As there is much work to be done on Clare’s site I do not think I should fully review it in its unfinished state. So I will not be choosing my three favourites but here are some examples of her work.
